UK Junior Maths Challenge - Years 7 & 8 Students take part in country wide competition

On the 30th April,  twenty Year 8 students and ten Year 7 students were entered into the UKMT Junior Maths Challenge. The students in Year 8 faired exceptionally well and received seven Bronze awards, two Silver and two Gold. Year 7s performed very well competing against older students by receiving four Silver and two Bronze awards themselves. In Year 7 Joel Maw received best in year just four marks off a Gold award with Joshua Raine just one mark adrift of his classmate.

In Year 8 both Catriona Thomson and Fynnjan Leach-Verhoeven received Gold awards with Fynnjan receiving enough marks to be entered into the next stage of the competition, he is only the second student in recent years to achieve this at The Beaconsfield School.
