Arsenal's Head of Education Makes a Visit

Matt Henley, Head of Education & Welfare for Arsenal Football Club meets the students of TBS to give advice.

On Wednesday, 30th September, 120 students listened to a talk from Matt Henley, Head of Education for Arsenal Football Club about careers within football.  The talk covered the reality of becoming a professional footballer in terms of how difficult it is to play football professionally for a club.  He also highlighted the hundreds of jobs that are related to football and integral to a successful team from chefs, ground staff to accountants and sports scientist.

The presentation was very informative for all the students who listened both boys and girls.  We hope they took on aboard the key message that no matter what role you want to take in education, being healthy and resilient is vital to success.  All traits that are important across any job.  If you want to be the best, you have to try your best.

Matt joined Arsenal in July 2013 as their Head of Education and Welfare.

The Bristol-born Bachelor of Education also holds a National Professional Qualification for Headship, the national qualification for Head Teachers.

Matt works with the academy players and his responsibilities include making sure all players receive the right level of tutorial support, as well as ensuring Arsenal’s education meets school standards.
