SQUASH: Girl Power

Two Year 7 students play in the Inter County Squash Championship Trophy Finals

Last Saturday saw two of our Year 7 students - Lucy Varco and Lorna Judge - travel north to Pontefract for the Inter County Championship Trophy Finals.  Both Lucy and Lorna had helped the Girls U13 team progress through two other stages to reach the finals.  In the Trophy final they were up against a very strong team from Yorkshire plus teams from Essex and Durham.  In what was a very long day, playing from 09.00 am to 4.00 pm, both girls played unbelievably well and raised their game up a notch or two.  The end result was an impressive win over Essex, a close defeat to Yorkshire and a win over Durham meaning they finished second.

They had the added bonus of having their medals presented by Malcolm Willstrop, father and coach to James Willstrop who is currently number 3 in the World.
