Nigeria: Find And Protect Abducted Schoolgirls

Nigeria:  Find and Protect Abducted Schoolgirls

Nigeria: Find And Protect Abducted Schoolgirls

We have to go to school and this is something we sometimes moan about, but education is a right that we are entitled to.

Our Amnesty Group are working to raise awareness and our concerns over the kidnap of hundreds of schoolgirls from a School in Chibok, Nigeria. More shocking news about the abductions is that we now know that Nigerian security forces had over 4 hours warning, but did not do enough to protect them.

Many children in Nigeria have had this right to an education forcibly removed, by numerous attacks on teachers and students.

The actions of those who have kidnapped these girls have taken away their basic human rights. It is the important to ensure that all children are able to access their right to education in safety, and to respect, protect and fulfil the human rights of all Nigerians without discrimination.

Our plan of action:

1.    We have written a letter to the Nigerian High Commissioner, to urge them to work to secure the safe release of the girls and to ensure that the perpetrators of this attack are brought to justice.

2.    On Monday 9th May we wore something red to school, as an act of support and solidarity for the campaign.

3.    Next week we will be selling red wristbands, for £1 each, available for all students to buy and wear in support of #bringbackourgirls.

Everyone has a right to an education.

Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.
