Health & Social Care
At Key Stage 4 we offer BTEC Tech Health and Social Care taught in a bespoke classroom, equipped with an interactive whiteboard.
Students have good access to ICT facilities.
The course is designed to develop knowledge and understanding in the Health and Social Care sectors and focuses on:
- Developing the knowledge, understanding and skills of students to meet the needs of the health and social care sectors.
- The role of the health or social care worker, their relationship with patients/service users and the responsibilities towards patients/service users and the wider health and social care sectors.
- Providing opportunities for students to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.
Students will complete three units, two core units and one externally assessed task, two are assessed internally through portfolio work, with one unit is externally assessed with a controlled assessment task; and students will be awarded, distinction, merit, pass or level 1 equivalent to one GCSE at Grades A* - E.
